OREANDA-NEWS. The National Bank of Ukraine and PJSC CB "PRIVATBANK" have signed an accession agreement on this banking institution joining the National Retail Electronic Payments System (hereinafter the NSMEP) based on the open international standards. The membership status is certified by a certificate of membership and the license No. 90 issued April 15, 2014, that gives PJSC CB "PRIVATBANK" the right to use the trademark NSMEP.

As part of the NBU Strategic Programme for the Development of Cashless Retail Payments for 2012 - 2014, the National Bank of Ukraine has implemented a large-scale project to upgrade the NSMEP, having made the transition to open international standards.

The fact that the leading player in Ukraine's payments market has joined the NSMEP indicates that when upgrading the payment system the National Bank of Ukraine took into account the proposals put forward by payments market players regarding the future of the NSMEP and applied best international practices in the area of development of national payment systems.

The National Bank of Ukraine makes every effort to create an advanced card payment system that meets all the requirements of the payment industry and introduces cutting-edge information technology and payment instruments.

Between 2012 and 2013, a number of banks, including PJSC “State Savings Bank of Ukraine”, PJSC “Delta Bank”, PJSC JSB "Ukrgasbank", PJSC "The State Export-Import Bank of Ukraine", PJSC “IMEXBANK”, PJSC CB Khreschatyk, and PJSC "FIDOBANK", PJSC "CB "AXIOM", PJSC connected to the central routing switch, or “gateway” and the NSMEP clearing center.

The NSMEP member banks that have operated within the system before, as well as new banks, including PJSC CB "PRIVATBANK", PJSC "Raiffeisen Bank Aval", PJSC “Bank “UNISON”, PJSC "CB "AXIOM", PJSC “Finance Bank”, PJSC “COMINVESTBANK”, PJSC “BANK MIKHAYLIVSKIY” and PJSC “Bank National Credit” use technology based on open international standards.

PJSC CB "PRIVATBANK" is a leading player in the Ukrainian card payments market. As of April 1, 2014, it had issued 31.7 million payment cards and installed 19,787 automated teller machines (ATMs) and 131,327 POS terminals.
