Water Recycling System to Be Used in Tengizchevroil Expansion Project
OREANDA-NEWS. April 21, 2014. Water recycling system will be used in the future expansion project of "Tengizchevroil" (TCO) in order to save natural resources. This was reported by the Minister of Environment and Water Resources of Kazakhstan Nurlan Kapparov .
According to him, the world is facing the critical shortage of water resources. "We need to encourage water savings, i.e., with all those measures that we have possible. In the industry, we will have to stimulate the recycling of water," he added.
Ministry plans to introduce it at other industrial sites of the country. "We insist on introducing the same system at Balkhash thermal power plant. There will also be water recycling to less consume water at industrial plant," N. Kapparov summed.
We would remind you that Tengiz field expansion project provides for production increase from 26 up to 38 million tons of oil per year by 2018. Cost of the project scheduled for completion in mid-2018 will be approximately USD 23 billion. Today the Tengiz field discovered in 1979 is one of the deepest and largest oil fields in the world. In 1993, "Tengizshevroil" was created as a result of the signing of an agreement between the Government of Kazakhstan and the corporation "Chevron". Currently its partners are Chevron - 50%, "KazMunaiGas" - 20%, ExxonMobil - 25% and LukArco - 5%.
