Heads of Customs Union Antimonopoly Bodies Discuss Cooperation
OREANDA-NEWS. April 21, 2014. The Heads of the antimonopoly bodies of the member-states of the Customs Union and the Common Economic Space, and a Member of Collegium (Minister) on competition and antimonopoly regulation of the Eurasian Economic Commission, Nurlan Aldabergenov, had a meeting in Moscow.
The Federal Antimonopoly Service was represented by the Head of FAS Russia, Igor Artemiev, his Deputy Andrey Tsyganov and FAS officers.
Participants discussed methodological approaches on analysis of cross-border markets, information on the current state of cross-border markets of the Customs Union and the Common Economic Space and a draft Action Plan on analyzing the state of competition on such markets.
The method of evaluating the state of competition was approved by a decision of the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission of 30th January 2013. As reported at the meeting, there are plans to analyze the state of competition on the markets of cell communications, aviation and railway transportation, electric power, apatite concentrate, natural gas and sugar. In the future the list can be expanded by the decision of the parties.
At the end of the meeting, the parties informed each other about the events planned for 2014 for the purposes of competition advocacy.
FAS, in particular, invited representatives of the antimonopoly bodies of the member-states of the Customs Union and the Common Economic Space to take part in St Petersburg International Legal Forum on 18-21 June 2014 and “Competition Day in Russia” International Conference that FAS organizes on 8-10 September 2014.
