Air Lituanica to Launch Flights to 2 Cities of Sweden
OREANDA-NEWS. April 17, 2014. The connections between Lithuania and Sweden will be especially convenient this summer: the airline Air Lituanica will offer seasonal flights to two Swedish cities – Gothenburg and Malmo. Flights will be operated from the middle of June until the end of August twice a week on both routes at evening time.
“We have lately had more opportunities to be happy about the announcements on the opening of new air connections between Lithuania and Sweden. It will definitely contribute to the strengthening of business and interpersonal relations as well as the growth of tourism flows. Finally – we will know each other better. We are especially happy that the Lithuanian flagship – Air Lituanica – is finally paving its way to Sweden. We have no doubts that the flights to Gothenburg and Malmo will serve the purpose; therefore, we will gladly spread this news in Sweden,” Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania to the Kingdom of Sweden Eitvydas Bajarunas welcomes the opening of new routes.
Audrius Masiulionis, Commercial Attache in the Kingdom of Sweden, adds that Lithuania has not had direct flights to Sweden for a long time, and the connections with the country are one of the main criteria in selecting a place for investments, searching for business partners or choosing a weekend destination. “I believe in the success of these routes,” A. Masiulionis says.
Gothenburg (Swedish Goteborg) is the main seaport of Sweden. The city has excellent rail connections; it is therefore convenient to reach any part of Sweden from Goteborg Landvetter Airport. From 15 June the flights to Goteborg Landvetter Airport will be operated on Wednesdays and Sundays; the plane will depart from Vilnius at 18:15; flight duration is 1 hour 35 min.
Malmo is the third largest city of Sweden, which was part of Denmark until the middle of the 17th century. Hence, the city is more Danish than Swedish, and tourists refer to Malmo as the second Copenhagen. It is very convenient to reach Copenhagen from Malmo as the cities are connected by an 8 km Oresund bridge-tunnel. From 17 June aircrafts will take off from Vilnius to Malmo on Tuesdays and Fridays at 18:15; flight duration is 1 hour 25 min.
Air Lituanica also flies from Vilnius Airport to Berlin, Brussels, Prague, Munich, Paris and Tallinn. The flights are operated by two aircrafts – Embraer 175 with 86 seats and CRJ 200 with 50 seats.
The sale of tickets to Gothenburg and Malmo begins today, fares starting from EUR 35.
