IMF Makes Statement on Ukraine
OREANDA-NEWS. Ms. Christine Lagarde, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), made the following statement today in Washington, D.C., following a meeting with the Ukrainian delegation on April 13:
“I met with Governor Stepan Kubiv and Ministers Oleksandr Shlapak and Pavlo Sheremeta, and their colleagues. We discussed recent economic developments in Ukraine and the good progress made by the authorities in implementing the policy actions, completion of which would enable consideration of the request for a Stand By Arrangement by the IMF Executive Board. I expect the Board will be in a position to consider this in the coming weeks.
“I welcomed the reforms adopted by the government and the National Bank of Ukraine so far and encouraged the authorities to carry this reform momentum throughout the program.”
