PSA Closes Conference for Industry Professionals on Maritime Safety
OREANDA-NEWS. April 15, 2014. CEPSA closed its 7th Conference in Madrid on the safety of operations in maritime terminals and facilities. This annual information forum brings together experts on the subject to share the latest developments in the sector and best practices.
This edition, held between 2 and 3 April and entitled “Accidental maritime pollution in maritime terminals and facilities”, was attended by more than 40 national and international representatives of Port Authorities, companies in the sector currently working with on diverse projects, certifying bodies and company professionals working in maritime facilities the area of environment, safety and quality who are especially focused on environmental protection and maritime safety.
“Safety and the prevention of incidents at maritime and port facilities are a priority for CEPSA and the sustainable development of in its operations”, stated Miguel Perez Pascual, CEPSA Director of Environmental Protection and Safety (HSSE), who added that “the great success of attendance to this year’s conference reaffirms us in the importance for CEPSA’s future to keep our professionals up to date on the latest developments in the field and ensure that they are prepared to apply the necessary and most efficient action protocols to act right from the start, minimising its consequences and avoiding any adverse social and environmental impacts of the Group’s activities.”
During the Conference, the experts analysed current issues for responsible development of the Company's operations. Among the presentations, they presented a proprietary software program called GRAIM for marine pollution analysis, prevention reference sheets, the Maritime Response Plans and their new legal approach and the results of the latest simulation in CEPSA’s facilities. They also analyzed the risks of the oil platforms, given the new scenario presented by the company's latest off-shore contract awards. Also presented were various ongoing projects linked with accidental marine pollution prevention. These areas are where CEPSA is a benchmark and that underline the company’s decided commitment to Research and Development.
