OREANDA-NEWS. The news website segodnya.ua, a part of Segodnya Multimedia holding, launches a Ukrainian page. Now people from all over Ukraine can read news both in Russian and Ukrainian.
Established in April 2007, segodnya.ua is an individual news website with dynamic 24/7 content update featuring various news sections, photo and video galleries, blogs, a story rating system and additional interactive opportunities for users.
Everyday the website publishes 200-300 news depending on occurred events. According to Gemius, the online audience reach has almost doubled over the past three months to over 2.8 million readers in February 2014. The upturn came thanks to the delivery of quick, quality and objective information, continuous drive to better content and commitment of the team to meet the interests of readers.
"The launch of a Ukrainian version of segodnya.ua is a strategic decision announced early in 2014," said Vasiliy Potapov, CEO and editorial director at Segodnya Multimedia. "The international research company TNS shows that Ukrainian-speaking families account for 32% of the website's audience. This is big readership that we should listen to. We will continue to make the website more accessible and believe that following this decision many Ukrainians will be able to read news in their mother tongue. We will also continue to provide top-quality content offering more breaking news and topics of interest to our readers".
Svetlana Panyushkina, editor-in-chief of Segodnya.ua, said: "Recent Gemius researches show that segodnya.ua covers 15.6% of the Internet audience today. We are in Top 20 most visited websites in Ukraine with a wide readership from Lugansk to Lvov, from Sumy to Odessa. We realise the full scope of responsibility that we have as a mass medium with a multi-million audience and therefore think it is the best time to launch a Ukrainian version. I believe our contribution will help to unite the country".
