OREANDA-NEWS. April 10, 2014. Estonian farmers grew seven percent more grain in 2013 compared to the previous year due to increased cooperation between farms.

The Estonian Chamber of Agriculture and Commerce said on Monday that one reason for the increase are two large grain terminals, which have helped concentrate growers to certain areas, guaranteeing a more uniform quality.

Grain was grown on more land than in 2012, with exports also increasing, although due to low market prices, the total value of exports dropped marginally to 106 million euros.

A grain development plan up to 2020 is in the works, concentrating on boosting yields and creating added value.
