OREANDA-NEWS. April 10, 2014. Kazakhstan is import dependent on six important types of food, executive secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture Arman Yevniyev said today at a briefing in the Central Communications Service.

"Of the 29 most important food items, ranging from meat, milk, bread, cereals, vegetables, etc. share of domestic products is less than 80 percent: sugar, poultry, butter, etc. These positions have become our top priority in the "Agribusiness 2020". Master plans have been developed and money was allocated. For all other indicators we have more than 80 percent. For some indicators, we have a 100% cover of domestic needs," Arman Yevniyev said.

Subsidies for the construction of five meat processing plants, modernization and reconstruction of 135 dairy plants, 56 meat processing plants, five plants for processing of fruits and vegetables, seven sugar mills, seven fat-and-oil companies, seven macaroni companies and 35 enterprises for the production of cereals are provided for under the state program "Agribusiness 2020".
