OREANDA-NEWS. April 10, 2014. In order to put the Group’s general planning on the 3-step reform and development and relevant deployment approved at the 2014 Annual Working Conference in practice, and to advance the resource development outside China for SinoSteel, Chairman Jia Baojun led a group consisting of independent directors-Zhao Fangkuan, Zou Qiao and He Qingyuan to visit Australia to investigate some mineral resource development projects and construction projects of SinoSteel, and Chairman stressed that, SinoSteel should speed up the mineral resource development outside China, create resource advantages for SinoSteel, make efforts to achieve more results in a shorter time, and create a core competence to support the reform and development of the Group. Mr. Lu Pengcheng, the Assistant to GM of SinoSteel accompanied them during the investigation. 

The group headed by Chairman Jia paid their first visit to the Magnetite Project of SinoSteel PNN joint venture which is located in  the mining right zone of Curnamona, a south province in Australia. After their site inspection on the mine lot, Chairman Jia and the group received reports on the production, operation, exploration and mining of Australia-based SinoSteel subsidiaries. Independent directors pointed out, SinoSteel should make full use of its advantages in resources, experiences and talents in mining operation, especially in iron ores, and shall speed up and make greater efforts in the resource development in Australia. Chairman Jia affirmed works carried out by SinoSteel’s subsidiaries in Australia on resource exploration and development, iron ore trading, mining right protection and retention of relations with joint ventures and local governments and their achievements, and raised specific requirements on the magnetite project of SinoSteel PNN in South Australia. 

The group led by Chairman Jia visited Cloncurry, Queensland, conducted a depth investigation on the Cudeco copper ore project for which Sinosteel Equipment has been responsible for the construction of the mineral seperation plant as the main contractor, and the site responsible project officer from SinoSteel Equipment introduced in detail to the group about the project construction schedule. Visiting directors believed that SinoSteel Equipment had made many meaningful trials in business modes, and offered their guiding opinions on future development. Chairman Jia stressed that, SinoSteel Equipment should continue to make good use of and improve their core competences featuring '3 capabilities'- resource integration capability, cost control and profit making capability, and customer and market development capability, to create an engineering and service brand with a good spirituality and superior project quality, build a strong market position and a good reputation. 

During their investigation on resource projects in Australia, the group headed by Chairman Jia also visited local governments and relevant partners, intermediaries and other Chinese enterprises in Australia for exchange and learning. 

During their visits in Australia and their return trip, the group headed by Chairman Jia also conducted a research on SinoSteel Singapore and SinoSteel International.
