OREANDA-NEWS. April 08, 2014. Romania was the main destination for exports of finished products from Moldova in 2013, after Moldovan goods deliveries increased by 18.7 per cent against the year before 2013, the National Bureau of Statistics has reported.

Thus, Moldova exported end goods to Romania worth 261 million dollars, which accounts for over 63 per cent of all Moldovan exports to this market in 2013. By this method, the light industry factories export clothes and clothing accessories, footwear and parts of footwear, bags, suitcases, wallets and leather heels. Also wires, cables and other electrical conductors worth tens of millions of dollars are exported after processing to Romania.

Italy and the United Kingdom complete the list of the three largest beneficiaries of the industry of manufacturing goods from the customer’s raw material. Exports of -processed goods from Moldova to these two markets amounted to 126 million and, respectively, 60 million dollars.

The light industry and companies producing electrical cables and conductors had by over 7.5 per cent more orders from foreign customers in 2013 against 2012, due to increased demand from European markets. The National Bureau of Statistics informed that exports of processed goods (lohn system) had risen up to 565.8 million dollars in 2013.

The European markets’ demand for products made from the customer’s raw materials at Moldovan factories grew amid prospects for economic recovery in the EU.

End goods became the main export commodity on markets from Romania, Italy, UK, Belgium, Slovakia and San Marino. The share of these goods amounts to 50-91 per cent in deliveries to these countries.

Data by the National Bureau of Statistics shows that, although exports increased in 2013 in terms of financial value, their share dropped by 23.6 - 24.3 per cent in overall exports.

Moldova exported end clothes and clothing accessories worth 239.56 million dollars, wires, cables and other electrical conductors amounting to 209.80 million dollars in 2013. Moldovan producers also exported footwear and parts of footwear, bags, suitcases, wallets and leather heels.
