Estonian Trade Unions Slam Planned Employment Reform
OREANDA-NEWS. April 04, 2014. The board of the Trade Union Confederation said they do not back new labor reforms currently in the works, as they miss a number of vital changes.
The main point of criticism is the lack of focus on work environments, leading to a decrease in work capability for thousands of employees each year, the confederation said in a press release today. The planned reform must help update unhealthy and outdated workplaces.
The head of the unions, Peep Peterson, said the proposed system of evaluating a person's ability just duplicate an existing system.
The planned reform is currently collecting comments and will be debated by Parliament on April 10, with focus on a better system of evaluating peoples' ability to work.
