OREANDA-NEWS. April 04, 2014. Breeze M Upper Stage was flown to the Baikonur Cosmodrome in preparation for the upcoming launch of two Reshetnev ISS–built satellites Loutch 5V and KazSat 3 on a Proton Breeze M launcher.

Loutch 5V is the third member of the Loutch (’Beam’) multifunctional satellite relay system being created under the Federal Space Program of Russia 2006 – 2015. This system is designed to support communication between the Russian segment of the International Space Station, LEO spacecrafts, launch vehicles and/or upper stages, on the one hand, and the Earth’s stations, on the other. The first two Loutch satellites were successfully orbited by Proton M/Breeze M vehicles. The first one, Loutch 5A, was placed into orbit in a dual launch with the Amos 5 spacecraft in December 2011 whereas the second one, Loutch 5B (5Б), paired with Yamal 300K in a launch of November 2012.

The KazSat 3 communication satellite is designed to provide telecommunication, DTV and broadband Internet services across Kazakhstan and its adjacent countries. The satellite is designed and built for the Republican Space Communication Center, Republic of Kazakhstan within the framework of Kazakhstan’s National Space Communications and TV/Audio Casting System. Protons were also used to launch the first two KazSats in 2006 and 2011, respectively.
