OREANDA-NEWS. April 03, 2014. At the site of the blast furnace slag flushing water waste heat recovery project of TISCO that has been put into operation, the modified key equipment to recover the waste heat from the blast furnace slag flushing water has been installed and put into operation.

It becomes the first waste heat recovery project that successfully utilizes the whole waste water coming from the large blast furnace slag flushing water system without filtering. The project has been applied for a patent to the State Intellectual Property Office.
 
In order to answer the call of Taiyuan Municipal Government to dismantle the small coal-fired residential heating boilers in Taiyuan City and make contributions to the blue sky and clear water, TISCO actively performs its corporate social responsibility, has successfully developed the blast furnace slag flushing water waste heat recovery system—a major research result in circular economy--after years of tests and overcoming a number of technical difficulties. After putting into operation in the winter of 2013, it has integrated with Taiyuan heating pipe network and provided heat resource for residential building with 2 million square meters, which creates conditions for Chengbei District of Taiyuan to accelerate the elimination of the small coal-fired boilers and further improve the environmental and air quality.
 
TISCO organized its specialized technical personnel and started developing the low grade waste heat recovery technology in 2005. The technical personnel of TISCO cooperated with the related equipment manufacturers and the heat suppliers, solved the key technical problems such as the balancing switchover of the heat recovery process, the clogging, corrosion and abrasion of the equipment, heat exchange efficiency and allocation and adjustment of heat supply, and successfully developed in 2010 the “the process of recovering the waste heat from the whole waste blast furnace slag flushing water without filtering” and the specialized “ equipment for recovering waste heat from blast furnace slag flushing water” through years of study and repeated tests to the technologies, method, equipment, control and load allocation of the blast furnace slag flushing water waste heat recovery system. This opens a new approach for recovering waste heat from the blast furnace slag flushing water in the iron and steel industry and develops a new green and environmental heat resource for the residential buildings around the iron and steel enterprises.
 
The development and operation of the project got strong support from Taiyuan Municipal Government and Chengbei Heating Company. Now the technology and operation plan of the blast furnace slag flushing water waste heat recovery system has been stable and transferred to several domestic iron and steel companies. Now TISCO is copying the technology to its other blast furnaces to effectively utilize the waste heat of the blast furnace slag flushing water and provide more, green and clean heat resource to the residents in Taiyuan.
