OREANDA-NEWS. PJSC “Ilyich Iron & Steel Worksof Mariupol” of METINVEST GROUP has invested over one million hryvnas for modernization of the turboblower №8 at the thermal power plant-1. The turboblower was put into operation following the unit's complete overhaul and it provides hot blast to blast furnaces №№3, 4 and 5.

Updating of the turboblower included renewal of the turbine rotor, the compressors, the system of regeneration and the pumping equipment. The service staff replaced the stop valves and the pipe conduits as well. The servicemen repaired the electric equipment, the control equipment, the automated control system and performed an additional adjustment of anti-surging protection.

The overhaul repair was completed 3 days prior to scheduled term thanks to consistent work of the service staff.

“Having updating the turboblower, we are able to decrease the Works' blowing expenditures and the blowing parameters will also improve. Realization of all restoring actions ensures steady, trouble-free operation of the unit during the overhaul period. We are applying a staged modernization of the production process. We are going forward certainly on our way to pollution-free and up-to-date steel making process. And in 2014, we will only speed up the process,” - said Yurij Zinchenko, the General Director of PJSC “Ilyich Iron and Steel Works of Mariupol”.
