Construction at Skalistaya Shaft Progresses Ahead of Schedule
OREANDA-NEWS. March 28, 2014. Alexander Ryumin, Director of Norilsk Nickel’s Polar Division supervised the progress of construction of shafts VS-10 and SCS-1 Skalistaya shaft of Komsomolsky mine.
Thyssen Schachtbau is the general contractor for construction of ventilation shaft No. 10 (further, VS-10) and skip and cage shaft No. 1 (SCS-1). Now the main building of the future fan unit is almost ready.
Thermal circuit is closed, civil construction works are underway. Foundations for two ventilation units to be installed in Q3-4 of 2014 are ready. Each fan will be capable of delivering underground 750 cubic meters of air per second. Depth of penetration at VS-10 is 785 meters out of 2,050 meters required, commissioning is scheduled for 2017.
At the construction site of skip and cage shaft No. 1 Alexander Ryumin monitored the key indicators and noted that the construction progresses ahead of schedule. A number of metal structures of the main step-down substation have already been mounted. Hoisting units of shaft sinking stage have been put into operation. The depth of the working is 185 meters out of two kilometers planned.
By the end of the year VS-10 is to be 540 meters deeper, SCS-1 is to be 340 meters deeper.
