Seminar on Carbonate Reservoirs Held at TATNEFT
OREANDA-NEWS. March 28, 2014. A training seminar devoted to the state of carbonate reservoirs development was held at JSC TATNEFT.
The event was attended by Nail Maganov, Director General of JSC TATNEFT, Shafagat Takhautdinov, Assistant to the President on the oil industry issues, Nail Ibragimov, First Deputy General Director for Production - Chief Engineer of JSC TATNEFT, Rais Khisamov, Deputy General Director - Chief Geologist of the Company, Vladimir Lavushchenko, Deputy General Director for Economics, managers and senior staff of the structural divisions of TATNEFT, service and independent oil companies of Tatarstan.
Opening the seminar on new methods and innovative approaches in the development of hard-to-recover reserves Nail Maganov, General Director of JSC TATNEFT, pointed out that such forums aimed at acquiring new knowledge and exchanging of experience became an ongoing and targeted process in the Company's activities.
According to Nail Maganov the Company's professionals will have to face an even more thorough, detailed study of the issues related to maximizing the oil recovery factor of carbonate reservoirs. This is a particularly topical problem for TATNEFT operating the late stage development reservoirs. Competent geological studies, introduction of new technologies and approaches in the development of carbonate reservoirs with hard-to-recover reserves allow stabilizing and increasing crude oil production volumes at the Company.
The necessity to study carbonate reservoirs is dictated by the fact that their resource potential in the Republic reaches 1 billion tons. In 2012, JSC TATNEFT adopted a special program on application of new technologies in drilling, workover and development of carbonate reservoirs. Pilot operations were carried out in a number of oil and gas production divisions of the Company. The representatives of NGDUs, science and service companies shared their experiences of studying this kind of deposits.
The seminar has become a platform to discuss new methods of carbonate reservoirs study in terms of drilling, production and EOR.
