OREANDA-NEWS. Alexey Mordashov, CEO of OAO Severstal, one of the world’s leading vertically integrated steel and steel related mining companies, and Chairman of the Committee for Integration, Trade and Customs Policies and WTO in the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RUIE), participated in the annual Russian Business week held on March, 17−21. Alexey Mordashov was granted an award from Alexander Shokhin, RUIE President, for best practices implemented by OAO Severstal in addressing social problems of certain areas and in human resources development.

The RUIE-promoted Russian Business Week is one of the key events where proposals on cooperation between the state and business are discussed and formulated.

During the event Alexey Mordashov was the speaker at Belarus-Kazakhstan-Russia business dialogue and at the RUIE session, he also made speech at “Cooperation of business and government to ensure growth and global risk management” conference and attended the meeting of the Board of RUIE.

The Russian Business Week focused on the development of mutual and multilateral trade as part of the newly created Eurasian Economic Union framework, on risk management to ensure growth and stability of the world economy, as well as on human resources development, creation of high-performance workplaces and improvement of the national labor law.

Speaking at the RUIE session, Mr Mordashov said: ”To create high-performance workplaces we need qualified staff. This problem is becoming more and more acute for Russian companies“.

“There are numerous examples when companies, including the RUIE members, become actively involved in staff training. Severstal, based on public-private partnership principles, is involved in the development of professional education in Vologda region”, emphasized Mr. Mordashov. – “We invest millions of rubles into these activities. We believe that providing a legislative framework for this cooperation, which we discussed, will allow us to improve this work”.
