OREANDA-NEWS. Metalloinvest announced a competition to select the best sports facilities in Zheleznogorsk. The prize money - 1.5 million rubles - will be provided by Mikhailovsky GOK as part of the three-party socio-economic partnership agreement between Metalloinvest, the town and the region for 2014.

The motto of the competition is helping and supporting those who are striving to achieve. Its aim is creating favourable conditions for exercise and widespread fitness in Zheleznogorsk, and opportunities to find, develop and support gifted athletes, as well as encouraging children and young adults to make a habit of regular exercise and taking part in sports.

The competition is taking place with four main categories: Best Athlete (for students at sports schools), Best Coach, Best Children and Young Adults Sports School and Best Sports Facility (without sports school status). All of the town's sports organisations are taking part in the competition, including the Yubileiny Ice Rink and Gornyak Stadium.

The winners will be chosen by a specially-appointed panel chaired by Mikhailovsky GOK's Managing Director Sergey Kretov, following analysis of the results for the year from 20 May 2013 until 20 May 2014. The monetary prizes that the winners will receive will be used to further develop each sporting institution.
