OREANDA-NEWS. March 24, 2014. The parliament ratified an agreement in the social insurances area between Moldova and Poland.

The document was signed in Poland in September 2013 and is meant to protect the social rights of people insured in Moldova and working or having permanent residence in Poland.

The agreement’s provisions will apply to people who pay or previously paid social insurance contributions both in Moldova and Poland. The document sets that both Moldovans working in Poland and Polish citizens legally working in Moldova will be able to benefit from old-age pensions, invalidity pensions, invalidity pensions and allowances as result of labour accidents or caused by professional diseases, as well as loss-of-breadwinner pensions.

Data by the Labour, Social Protection and Family Ministry show that, presently, about 900 Moldovans work in Poland and about 100 Polish citizens work in Moldova. So far, Moldova has signed similar agreements with another eight countries, among which Romania, Portugal, Bulgaria, etc.
