OREANDA-NEWS. March 20, 2014. The results of the Republican contest "Philanthropist of the Year - 2013" were summed up. Nail Maganov, General Director of JSC TATNEFT, was awarded a diploma as Head of the Company participating in the contest since its inception.

The awarding ceremony was held in the Tatar Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet (TAGTOiB) named after Musa Jalil. The event was attended by Rustam Minnikhanov, President of the Republic of Tatarstan;  Ildar Khalikov, Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan; Mintimer Shaimiev, State Advisor of the Republic of Tatarstan, First President of the Republic of Tatarstan;  Farid Mukhametshin, State Council Chairman of the Republic of Tatarstan; representatives of Ministries and Departments of the Republic of Tatarstan, heads of the municipal areas of the Republic of Tatarstan, managers of large industrial enterprises of the Republic of Tatarstan, as well as directors of foster homes, welfare shelters, orphans and families with adopted children.

The Republican contest is an annual event and it is held with the objective of expanding and developing charitable activities aimed at solving social and economic problems of the Republic, rendering social support for children, disabled persons, elderly persons and other vulnerable population categories.

Rustam Minnikhanov, President of the Republic of Tatarstan, addressing the audience said that this event had brought together the people showing by their example how to live in a modern society and that the people taking part in charity activities should be spoken about. "Today, each of us in this hall has got a lot of positive emotions, examples, and, of course, today's celebration will give each of us an impetus to make a lot of good deeds by many people," Rustam Minnikhanov said. The Head of the Republic awarded the permanent partners of the contest involved in it since its inception. Among the recipients there were heads of the largest enterprises of the Republic, such as JSC TATNEFT, JSC "Tattelecom" (Kazan), OOO "Greenhouse Centre" Maysky", JSC "Nizhnekamskneftekhim", etc.

The contest winners were selected among businesses, organizations and charity foundations for many years supporting the destitute, among voluntary movements, public charity foundations, tele- and radio broadcasters, representatives of traditional religions and individual philanthropists.

Regular charity actions were carried out right on stage: several parents of seriously ill children were awarded certificates for treatment and families with many children received keys to new cars.

The State Song and Dance Ensemble of the Republic of Tatarstan and  children's creative vocal and dance groups performed for the participants of the ceremony.

The "Philanthropist of the Year" Contest was instituted in 2007 by the decision of the National Council on charitable activities. 1075 applications from businesses, organizations and charitable foundations of the Republic have been filed during the years of its existence with the total endowment fund amounting to 22.5 billion rubles.
