Karelia Develops New Tourist Routs
OREANDA-NEWS. Participants of the Mining Road Project at the support of the State Committee of the RK for Tourism present results of research of geo-industrial heritage and geological sites of Karelia and Finland, as well as a workshop on opportunities of using them to introduce tourist routes from Outokumpu to Petrozavodsk and vice versa.
Description of the route in the form of a book, virtual excursions, GPS-guides etc. will be presented. The workshop is a part activities financed by the Russian Federation, European Union and the Republic of Finland within the scope of the Mining Road Project of the Karelia European Neighbourhood Partnership Instrument program of cross-border cooperation (Karelia ENPI CBC).
Mining Industrial heritage, geological sites are unique possibilities to look for historical development of countries during centuries to know more about Earth development. Results of the research provide new facilities for tourist companies in the both of our countries - for Finland and Republic of Karelia (Russia) regarding creation of a new cross-border tourist product, that would enable local residents and entrepreneurs come into the tourist market.
The workshop will take place on April 7-9, 2014, in Piipun Piha Hotel, Sortavala, Promyshlennaya str.44. The workshop program will be published in <http://miningroads.ru/en/index.html> and sent to all registered participants.
