OREANDA-NEWS. March 14, 2014. Governor of Omsk Region Victor Nazarov arrived to “Omsky Kauchuk” plant in order to control jointly with the management of the enterprise and representatives of oversight bodies and specialized agencies the process of liquidation of the accident’s consequences which occurred in phenol-acetone workshop.

On the accident’s site also was Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology of Omsk Region Alexander Vinokurov.

According to the head of the region, the fire poses no threat either to population or to the city’s life.

“According to preliminary data and results of express-analysis, no poisonous substances were detected in the air. Evacuation of population and workers of the plant was not conducted. There is no threat of the fire’s spread or emission of poisonous substances”, - said the Head of Chief Administration of the Ministry of Emergency Situations in Omsk Region Vladimir Korbut.

As a consequence of the accident there were 12 casualties; there were no fatalities. One prevented pollution of water objects and soil.

Let us mention that inflammation in phenol-acetone workshop started at 13.30 local time, soon there was a slam in oxidation column. By 16.00 the inflammation was localized.

Causes of the accident, character and size of damage will be established after completion of special commission’s work.
