President of RZD Summarizes Operational Performance in February
OREANDA-NEWS. March 14, 2014. Vladimir Yakunin, President of Russian Railways, held a conference call, during which he summarised the operational performance of the railway network in February and the first two months of 2014.
According to Yakunin, January-February this year saw tariff freight turnover increase by 5.9% compared to the same period in 2013 and by 7.5% when taking into account empty wagons runs.
The average daily volume of freight loaded in February 2014 amounted to 3,330,000 tons, which is 0.6 % lower than in February 2013.
Vladimir Yakunin said that the planned targets for most of the basic quality indicators of operational performance in February had been met. The average weight of freight trains increased by 0.2 % compared to February 2013 to 3,911 tons.
The average through speed of container trains in February this year amounted to 923 km/day, 3.1% more compared to February 2013, while in the framework of the project "The Trans-Siberian in 7 days" average through speed was 1,121 km/day.
During January-February 2014, passenger traffic on the infrastructure of Russian Railways decreased by 3.2% compared to the same period in 2013, with long-distance passengers falling by 6.3%. Suburban passenger turnover increased by 6.6% however.
