OREANDA-NEWS. Based on the official results of the “XIV Engineer of the year 2013” competition, eight engineers from the NPO Saturn technical direction were awarded different titles and presented with awards.

The all-Russian “Engineer of the year” contest has been organized by the Russian Union of scientific and engineering societies conjointly with a number of partner-organizations ever since 2000.

The main goal of the competition is to draw people's attention to the problems of qualification of Russian engineering cadre, create more attractive working conditions and foster professionalism of the engineering cadre, identify the elite in the present-day engineering community, promote the achievements and best practices of the Russian engineers in the field of industry, education and science.

The contest is held in two categories: “Professional engineers” and “Engineering art of the youth”, and comprises two rounds during which an independent commission carries out its expert evaluation of the contestants in each of the two categories.

Following the results of the first round of the competition, five NPO Saturn employees were short-listed:

• in the “Professional engineers” category, the “Professional engineer of Russia” title, an associated certificate and a sign of distinction were bestowed upon Ilya Polyakov, deputy chief designer and to Nikolay Osadchiy, expert;

• in the “Engineering art of the youth” category, a diploma “The winner of the first round of the all-Russian Engineer of the year 2013 competition” went to Nikita Korobkin, 2-grade design engineer, to Alexander Ulitichev, team leader and to Denis Slobodskoy, team leader.

Based on the results of the second round, among the completion winners there were three representatives of Saturn:

• in the “Professional engineers” category, the “Engineer of the year” title was awarded to Grigoriy Zhuravlev, head of a design department and to Roman Kirichenko, head of a design department;

• in the “Engineering art of the youth” category, the “Engineer of the year” title went to Alexey Sasarin, acting head of a laboratory-production facility.

The NPO Saturn Research and Production Association (OJSC) is an engine-building company specialized in the design and development, production and after-market support of gas turbine engines for military and civil aviation, naval ships and power-generating plants and gas-pumping units. The association is part of the All-Russian public organization The Union of mechanical engineers of Russia whereby the regional branch is headed by I. N. Fedorov, NPO Saturn CEO.
