OREANDA-NEWS. The Federal Antimonopoly Service of Russia (FAS Russia) has achieved a great breakthrough regarding the efficiency of internal corporate communications thanks to a project uniting its regional branches and central administration office into a single and secure multi-service network. All 83 FAS branches are now connected to the network, and the project was implemented by CROC.

Thanks to the project, the productivity of FAS employees has increased dramatically and the company's internal telephony system has become more user-friendly-all with shorter time-to-dial and lower operational costs.

“The network operates 24/7 and employee interactions are much faster now, no matter where they are-at the desk, at one of FAS branches, or away on business. As a result, the days when a branch could be unreachable for one hour or even several days are now firmly in the past. In addition, IP telephony makes employee inter-region communications free-of-charge. As a result, we plan to save approximately several million rubles per year,” says Fedor Tsarikovsky, Deputy Head of IT Administration, FAS Russia.

“FAS networking infrastructure required the modernization of telecommunications equipment, unification of access nodes, and channel duplication. We have connected 83 regional branches into a unified network which covers the internet, telephony and video conferencing. In addition, we have deployed a Wi-Fi network for 500 users and expanded IP telephony and unified communications services at the central administration office. Furthermore, CROC is now providing round-the-clock technical support services covering the entire IT infrastructure according to the ITILv3 methodology,” comments Natalya Dyakonova, Director of Telecommunications Department, CROC.

Round-the-clock monitoring, statistics collection, and incident and operations logging are performed using a specialized online dashboard developed by CROC. The dashboard is available from any device, including mobile ones.

The project is based on Avaya IP telephony and unified communications solutions: the majority of FAS employees around Russia now have IP phones and advanced communication services so that they can take calls on their office phone, even when they are at the airport.

Cisco Systems equipment is used for traffic routing and upgraded network switching. In addition, HP and Extreme Networks equipment was also used in the project.
