OREANDA-NEWS. March 13, 2014. According to APC-Inform: Vegetables&Fruit, this year Moldova’s presence on the Russian apple market has been growing, vying with both: local apples and those imported from Poland.

As the Main Statistics Department of Russia says, in July2013 –January 2014 Moldova dispatched 147,000 tons of apples to Russia, which is up 7% against the past season and highest ever amount for the last 5 years.

In the reporting period, one fourth of all the apples imported to Russia was imported from Moldova. Meanwhile, Moldova’s main competitor for the Russian market Poland is decreasing its deliveries, giving up its position. Over 7 months of this season the share of Polish apples on the Russia market decreased 30%.
