OREANDA-NEWS. March 12, 2014. CCCC Second Harbor Engineering Co., Ltd. won the bid for Lot HTQ-1 of Hutong Yangtze Bridge on Shanghai-Nantong Railway, with a contract value of 3.99 billion yuan and a construction period of 1,521 days.

This is a bridge project with the largest contract amount ever undertaken by the company. Successful bidding for the project has made the company the first non-railway enterprise to enter the railway bridge construction field, achieving a breakthrough in the highway-railway bridge market and filling a gap in the railway bridge market for the enterprise. To date, bridges undertaken by the company have covered all existing types in the world.

With a full length of some 11 kilometers, Hutong Yangtze Bride is a controlled project of Shanghai-Nantong Highway constructed as a highway-railway bridge and double-pylon cable-stayed bridge. With a main span of 1,092 meters, 4 meters longer than the world's longest cable-stayed bridge Sutong Bridge, the bridge has features of "high main pylon, large span and volume, new structure, equipment and materials". High main pylon: the highest main pylon (325 meters) of a highway-railway cable-stayed bridge in the world; large span and large volume: with a main span of 1,092 meters, the bridge will be a highway-railway cable-stayed bridge with the largest span in the world; with a main span of 336 meters, the specific channel bridge is a highway-railway steel arch bridge with the largest span among similar-structured bridges in the world; and the bridge's open caisson foundation is the largest deepwater open caisson foundation in the world; new structure, new equipment and new materials. After being built up, the bridge will become the world's first highway-railway bridge with a span of over 1,000 meters.

The project has two lots. With a length of some 5 kilometers, Lot HTQ-1 undertaken by the company involves the main and auxiliary works of the approach bridge on the north bank, the specific channel bridge with 2x112m cross-levee steel girders and a main span of 336 meters on the north bank, and the bridge with 21x112m simply supported steel truss girders across Henggangsha.

As a major coastal cross-river railway and highway channel, the bridge will be of great significance to opening the coastal railways to full traffic, further perfecting the regional transportation structure, improving the transport capacity of the cross-river channel and promoting the integration of the society and economy in the Yangtze River Delta.
