OREANDA-NEWS. March 12, 2014. The other day, the National Development and Reform Commission NDRC released its 2014 No.2 Announcement on the 2014 assessment results of all the national engineering research centers.

The Sinosteel National Engineering Research Center for Coking and Refining Technology supported by Sinosteel Anshan Research Institute Of Thermo-Energy Co.,Ltd and the National Engineering Research Center for Refractory supported by Sinosteel LuoYang Institute Of Refractories Research Co.,Ltd. got a score of 81.8 and 79.1 respectively due to their good performance in R&D investment, research results, talent cultivation, economic returns and contributions to the industry, ranking No. 21 and No.31 among the 91 national engineering centers involved in the assessments.

As R&D entities and an important part of the state innovation system, national engineering research centers are established by universities, research institutions and enterprises with strong R&D and comprehensive capabilities organized by NDRC on the basis of the significant strategic demand to build an innovative nation and to optimize and upgrade the industrial structure and with the aim of improving the capability of indigenous innovation, enhancing the core competence and development momentum of the industry.

To ensure the high quality, the centers implement a dynamic assessment system to select the superiors and eliminate the inferiors from them and are assessed by NDRC every two years.
