OREANDA-NEWS. Enel OGK-5 and the Energy Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences (ERI RAS) have signed a Memorandum of academic cooperation. The Memorandum was signed by Enrico Viale, General Director of Enel OGK-5, and Alexey Makarov, Academician, President of ERI RAS. Under the Memorandum, Enel OGK-5 and the Institute will jointly carry out educational and scientific activities in the power generation, energy efficiency, economy, oil & gas as well as ecology sectors.

Enel OGK-5 and ERI RAS will join their efforts and expertise in building up economic development and energy demand scenarios, assessing the potential for renewable and smart energy technologies, analyzing regulatory and investment support mechanisms, as well as undertaking research on significant issues such as modernization and improvement of environmental performance of energy sector facilities. The Parties are also planning to analyze the trends of the Russian, European and global energy markets, as well as long-term sustainable development issues.

The combination of the unique academic potential of a leading Russian research institute and the international experience of a company belonging to one of the main global electricity groups will allow to undertake high-level research on key issues related to the development of the energy sector.
