Mitsui President Receives Order from Chilean Government
OREANDA-NEWS. Mitsui & Co., Ltd. President Masami Iijima has received the Order of Bernardo O'Higgins from the Chilean government. The Order recognizes foreign nationals for their outstanding contribution to government, economic and cultural relationships between Chile and other nations.
A ceremony was held at the residence of the Ambassador of Republic of Chile of Japan on February 6, 2014, where President Iijima was presented with the Order by Ambassador Patricio Torres. Also present at the ceremony were the Ambassadors of Brazil, Mexico and Peru, executive staff from Mitsui's partner companies, and members of the Japanese government.
For many years Mitsui has been working together with partner companies on a variety of projects in Chile, in such areas as automobiles, fertilizers, tires and copper production. In recent years, it has partnered with local companies in mining and copper production, salmon farming, and wood chips. It is also placing a focus on contributing to Chilean regions including donating to Museo Interactivo Mirador (Mirador Interactive Museum / the Chile Mineralogical Museum). Mitsui is committed to leveraging its business to contribute to the growth of Chilean society and economy, and development of closer ties between Japan and Chile.
