FAS Fined Participants of Agreement on Market of Norwegian Fish
OREANDA-NEWS. On 4th March 2014, the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia) imposed turnover fines upon two participants of a cartel on the market of Norwegian fish. “Russian Fish Company” CJSC is held administratively liable and is fined over 173.7 million RUB, and “Russian Sea - Kaliningrad” Ltd. is fined over 10.9 million RUB.
On 8th July 2013, FAS found that “Russian Fish Company” CJSC and “Russian Sea - Kaliningrad” Ltd., as well as other economic entities that violated the Federal Law “On Protection of Competition” (Clause 3 Part 1 Article 11) - concluding an anticompetitive agreement (cartel) between economic entities, which led or could have led to dividing the market of Norwegian fish on the volume of sales, purchases of goods and categories of buyers.
Calculating the fine, FAS took into consideration that “Russian Fish Company” CJSC executed an earlier issued determination.
“The norms on liability for violating the antimonopoly law are designed to not only punish the violators but also is an instrument of restoring competition. “Russian Fish Company” CJSC executed the determination of the antimonopoly body, which served as a mitigating circumstance and had a considerable impact upon reducing the imposed fine”, said the Head of FAS Anti-Cartel Department, Andrey Tenischev.
