Eurocement Group Officially Sponsors Series of Foreign Performances
OREANDA-NEWS. EUROCEMENT Group, within the framework of partnership with the Golden Mask Russian National Theater Award, officially sponsored the “Context. Contemporary Foreign Performances” program. The first production of the series, ATOMOS, staged by Wayne McGregor, a renowned British director and choreographer, took place in Moscow on February 19-20, 2014, at the Mossovet Theater as part of UK-Russia Year of Culture 2014. The production can be viewed as a result of laboratory study of the human body and its potential.
The Context Program is a new step in Golden Mask's approach to presenting productions from abroad. A Russian theater festival and award, Golden Mask primarily focuses on the peculiarities and condition of our domestic theater. Obviously, the Russian theater exists in the global cultural context in no isolation from the creative, conceptual and formal questions posed by the artists worldwide. Influences, overlaps, borrowings, the emergence of the new, original, previously unseen make theatrical life complex, unpredictable and exciting. Global context not only nourishes and enriches our national theater but is also influenced by the Russian theater.
The Context Program will feature foreign productions that offer the spectator an understanding of theatrical language and theatrical reality. As early as next year, Context will become a supervisory project with a program to be selected by experts.
