OREANDA-NEWS. Vnesheconombank and OJSC the Central Suburban Passenger Company signed a Memorandum on cooperation in purchasing and operating passenger electric trains.

The parties agreed to explore the possibility of raising funds to finance an investment project aimed at updating railway rolling stock of OJSC the Central Suburban Passenger Company in order to expand passenger railway transportation in Moscow, the Moscow region and adjacent zones. Under the Memorandum the Bank and the Company intend to enhance all-round cooperation to develop an organizational and financial scheme for implementing the project.

Implementation of investment projects designed to remove economic growth infrastructure restrictions including development of transport infrastructure is under the Memorandum on Financial Policies one of Vnesheconombank's main lines of activity.

Railway rolling stock is a part of transport infrastructure needed for passenger suburban and interregional transportation. Its updating will help to develop public railway transportation in the Moscow region which is of great socio-economic importance.

In the opinion of the project's participants newly created rolling stock is to be in line with the current quality and safety standards. More than 50 trains are scheduled to be purchased in the period of three years. They are to be operated in OJSC the Central Suburban Passenger Company's activity range.

As of December 2013 the Bank's governance bodies made decisions on implementing 25 projects in the transport infrastructure in the total amount of 495 billion rubles. VEB's participation share in funding the projects is `184.6 billion rubles. As a result of the projects' implementation more than 17.5 thousand new jobs will be created, budget revenues will amount to 190.8 billion rubles. At present, 8 projects are being considered at the Bank. They are designed to develop transport infrastructure. Vnesheconombank's expected participation share is 246.5 billion rubles.

OJSC the Central Suburban Passenger Company is the largest passenger carrier among suburban passenger companies of Russia. OJSC the Central Suburban Passenger Company's share in suburban passenger transportation in the Moscow railway junction is more than 80% and its share in suburban passenger railway transportation in Russia is 60%.
