General Dynamics to Integrate Airport Screening Equipment
OREANDA-NEWS. General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems was awarded an USD 8.2 million task order by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to provide software development, open architecture systems integration and operations and maintenance support services for the Security Technology Integration Program (STIP). This task order, awarded under a five-year single-source Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA), is for work exclusive to the TSA’s STIP program. Through this award, General Dynamics will assist TSA in achieving STIP’s goals of improving security, resource management and overall operational effectiveness.
“We continue to leverage our open business model and open architecture approach to connect critical Transportation Security Administration screening technologies on a single network,” said Carlo Zaffanella, vice president and general manager of Integrated Platform Solutions at General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems. “Our standards-based solutions are tailored to meet the dynamic requirements of the transportation security enterprise as it evolves in response to operational needs.”
General Dynamics will provide full lifecycle software development, maintenance and integration support to TSA and manufacturers of transportation security equipment. By providing manufacturers with integration support, General Dynamics ensures the successful integration of transportation security equipment with STIP enterprise services. Additionally, General Dynamics will deliver overall program management support as TSA expands STIP to airports nationwide and integrates additional security equipment with STIP services.
Since 2010, General Dynamics has supported the development of new software, applications and enhancements to the existing STIP Enterprise Manager and Application Suite. In addition to providing TSA with new tools for security data collection, analysis and dissemination, General Dynamics’ work on this program also strengthens the remote maintenance monitoring of transportation security equipment across the aviation security enterprise.
