OREANDA-NEWS. Within the scope of work of the State Commission for preparation for the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Karelia chaired by Nikolai Patrushev, Secretary of the Security Council of Russia, a meeting on gas distribution network development in Karelia took place in Moscow on February, 25. Alexey Miller, Vice-Chairman and CEO of Gazprom, and Head of Karelia Alexander Khudilainen have taken part in the meeting.

The issues of fulfilment of the program of gas supply of the republic in 2012 - 2015 were considered during the meeting. Further prospects of gas distribution network development on Prionezhie and central Karelia up to Segezha were discussed.

According to Alexander Khudilainen, settlements on fulfilment of mutual obligations of the Republic of Karelia and Gazprom were arranged.

As the company's website informs, high rates of gas distribution network development in Karelia have been pointed out at the meeting. It has been mentioned that this year the company intends to invest about 2,8 billion roubles in gas distribution network development of the region.

The Gazprom's program of gas supply in 2014 stipulates construction of gas pipe lines connecting seven settlements, as well as the gas pipeline branch and gas distribution station within the territory of the republic. Besides, development of design specifications and estimates for construction of 13 more gas pipe lines is in progress. Gazprom synchronizes the gas distribution network development in Karelia with continuation of reconstruction of objects of heat power industry of the republic. This year the company intends to build or reconstruct 27 heat supply sources in Olonets, Lahdenpohja and Pitkaranta regions.

Besides, matters at the meeting concerned construction of social objects in Karelia. Within the scope of the Gazprom for Children program today the company is building three sports and recreation centres, and 18 multifunctional outdoor sports grounds have already been constructed.
