Ukrainian Logistics Allows to Export Record Volumes of Grain
OREANDA-NEWS. National logistic allow us today to export record volumes of grain. So, more than 24 million tons of grain have been supplied abroad. And whereas it is planned that each year farmers will increase export, we need to modernize and develop the capacity of grain logistics. So, we plan to invest large sums in the construction of linear and some powerful port elevators and stimulate river transportation of grain. Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Mykola Prysyazhnyuk said this in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine.
"The issue of logistics, which meet with international regulations and standards and enables agrarian producers and grain traders to keep a high quality grain and bring it to the condition, is in the presses. The logistic is developing," Mykola Prysyazhnyuk noted.
Also, the Minister said that despite the lack of grain transport of Ukrainian railways, record amounts of grain is supplied abroad. And this is despite the fact that there are restrictions on the transportation of grain by road so as not to create a load on the road. "Over half of the 2013-2014 marketing year, we have shown - if properly work of is organized and simultaneously owners of grain, traders and "Ukrzaliznytsia", we can perform those the volumes of shipments, which we previously did not perform.
Up to date, we have exported more than 24 million tons of grain and this is despite the fact that it was decided to ban transportation of grain by road if the loading rate on the road is exceeded," the Minister said.
Mykola Prysyazhnyuk also said that he is satisfied that the Ukrainian railways encourages traders and grain owners to form joint trains, and it enables them to better use the rolling stock, and deliver good more quickly. The Minister also informed that it is planed to attract significant investment in the construction of linear and some powerful port elevators.
It is also important to develop river transportation of grain. "The development of river transportation of grain will make it possible to unload automobile roads, railways and reduce logistics costs", the Minister said.
