OREANDA-NEWS. The Investing in African Mining Indaba event, one of the biggest stakeholder meetings in the mining sector, took place at the beginning of the month in Cape Town, South Africa. This was the 20th edition of the event, which was attended by over 100 exhibiting companies. The meeting is an opportunity for companies to present their business in the context of the development of the African continent. Vale has participated in the event as a sponsor since 2005.

This year, the focus was on projects in Mozambique. For Vale's in-country director, Ricardo Saad, this is a concrete example of Vale's long-term performance: “We began with mineral research and today we're operating the Moatize Coal Mine and the Sena Corridor and the Moatize II and Nacala Corridor projects are currently underway. All this has created more than 13,000 jobs. This reality contributes to the transformation and development of people and the country.”

Vale's stand presented the company's involvement on the continent through maps and videos, as well as an app through which the visitor could learn a little more about Vale in Mozambique.
