Ukraine Intends to Gain USD 20 bn from Agriculture Production Export
OREANDA-NEWS. February 21, 2014. In the current year Ukraine intends to receive around USD 20 billion foreign currency from the export of agricultural complex production, therefore the task of the Government is ensuring needs of agrarians for the approaching sowing campaign.
The acting Prime Minister Serhiy Arbuzov announced during a session of the Cabinet of Ministers.
“Timely providing them [agrarians] with equipment, fuel, lubricants and fertilizers is the pledge of successful sowing campaign. And as a result, food security in the country. Apart from that, the country needs currency flows from the agri-food export. We predict them on the level of USD 20 billion this year,” Serhiy Arbuzov said.
The present state of preparing to the sowing campaign can be assessed as satisfactory, he said. “The winter crops have been sown almost reaching the level of last record year, which is 96%. The agrarian producers have been fully provided with quality seeds. Readiness of tractors makes up 96%, planting machines – 98%. I hope this winter weather conditions will facilitate good yield,” the acting Prime Minister stressed.
The agrarians are ready to possible oversowing, he noted. The State Reserve Fund has sufficient amount of seeds for this.
