PIMCU Begins Transportation of Containers Filled with Sulfuric Acid
OREANDA-NEWS. Using tank containers to transport products has proven to be cheaper and more convenient than by rail. The Krasnokamensk train station has been specifically customized and passed all accreditation for the processing of shipments. Tank containers have been supplied by the Zabaikalskaya railway.
Uranium mining company JSC Khiagda, a JSC PIMCU partner from the Republic of Buryatia and also a subsidiary of JSC Atomredmetzoloto, was the first to receive a shipment of the tank containers with sulfuric acid. "The length of the cargo delivery track from Krasnokamensk is much shorter than from the Western part of the country, providing an expedited wagon turnover. “Waiting for a delivery will soon become history”, explains Dmitry Stryukov, Senior Foreman at one of the JSC Khiagda materials management bases.
According to Andrey Prostakishin, PIMCU's Commercial Director, the overall production of the vitriol plant in 2014 will increase from 121 thousand tons to 152 thousand tons, primarily due to increases in shipments to partners. In order to increase production output, the vitriol plant has been fully overhauled. Complex operations involving the overturning of contact mass and cleaning of all process equipment have been carried out by plant employees. A cleaning of the impure sulfur collectors was also conduced along with the reconstruction of railroad access routes.
