Energy Management System of Khartsyzsk Pipe Plant Meets Standards
OREANDA-NEWS. Khartsyzsk Pipe Plant operating under umbrella of Metinvest has completed the first audit verifying the compliance of its energy management system with international standard ISO 50001.
The specialists of official certification authority TUV SUD in Ukraine assessed the operation of the energy management system of KHTZ units and the level of employee engagement in the work. The auditors visited the main and auxiliary shops of the plant, the technical department and the department of the chief power engineer. They focused on compliance of the document management with the requirements of ISO 50001 and implementation and analysis of the Energy Saving Programme at the plant.
They gave a positive assessment of the energy management system at KHTZ and confirmed the legitimacy of the certificate issued last year.
"The plant has done a big job over the last year. We can see a well-operating energy management system which has become a part of a large-scale campaign to fight losses. This comprehensive approach is important to improve efficiency of the plant and streamline the process of energy consumption," noted a representative of the audit company Mikhail Levitskiy.
Khartsyzsk Pipe Plant obtained international certificate ISO 50001 in March 2013. The company passed the audit due to systemic work in implementing the best energy saving technologies.
"We cannot control energy prices and influence the global economy but we can improve our system of resource management now. The international standard principles are an efficient tool to detect losses as they help to reduce energy costs and environmental footprint and boost competitiveness of our products," underlined the CEO of KhTZ Pavel Uzbek.
Khartsyzsk Pipe Plant is the biggest national and one of the biggest international pipe manufacturers. The company produces electric-welded straight-seam large diameter pipes (from 508 to 1,422mm) with external, internal or smooth anticorrosive coatings for gas-oil product lines. The design capacity of the plant is 1.3 million pipes per year including about 700,000 tonnes of coated pipes.
Khartsyzsk Pipe Plant has an integrated management system in place which guarantees high quality of products to consumers. It is based on ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, API Spec Q1, DSTU ISO 9001, GOST R ISO 9001, and STO Gazprom 9001. The products are certified according to API, EN and UkrSEPRO national certification system. Its welding production is certified according to ISO 3834-2.
In 2011, KhTZ manufactured over 630,000 tonnes of large diameter pipes which is a record in the last 20 years.
In September 2010, Khartsyzsk Pipe Plant was the first company in the Metinvest Group which had launched Lean Production programme and made significant progress.
The social policy priorities of KhTZ as a monocity plant include implementation of social programmes and initiatives in the area of education and healthcare and improvement of the municipal infrastructure. In 2011, the company' social investments made over UAH 1.3m.
The plant is a part of the Metallurgical Division of the Metinvest Group.
