Ukraine Hosts Congress of Farmer and Private Land Owners
OREANDA-NEWS. February 19, 2014. There are numbered around 40 thousand farms in Ukraine nowadays. They produce considerable share of agricultural production, in particular fruit and vegetables, meat and diary products. In the previous year the farms improved their production capacity by 6.5%. So, the country will continue supporting the farmers, including allocation of the budget funds.
Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Olexandr Sen informed during a congress of Farmer and Private Land Owner Association of Ukraine.
According to the deputy minister, farmers start playing a more and more important role in the national economy. So, in the current year over 40 thousand farms are enumerated in Ukraine and have in possession 14% agricultural lands of the country. “We can ascertain that today a Ukrainian farmer has been formed as a host and a producer as well. Only during the previous year the private economies increased production of agriculture goods by 6.5%. So, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy understands the importance of supporting the farmers and farmer’s organizations,” Olexandr Sen informed.
For instance, the cohesive work of Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Mykola Prysyazhniuk and the Farmer Association has proved possible to maintain favourable taxation environment. Simultaneously, according to Olexandr Sen, accounting for the propositions of the Association and interests of the farmers the Ministry has been working on the issues regarding meat import as well.
Therefore, only throughout 2013 the import of meat and meat foods was cut by one third. At the same time, an issue of cost-cutting of logistics for famers is being solved. In addition deregulation of entrepreneur activity is carried out.
“Nowadays the number of regulatory acts is the most acute issue. The draft law that is called to abolish the whole series of regulatory acts has been created. In particular, with regards to certification of grain quality, certifying of grain storages and abolition of inspection of agriculture machinery. Now it is the matter of the Verkhovna Rada to approve,” the deputy minister stressed.
