OREANDA-NEWS. February 18, 2014. Seven KREBS hydrocyclones have been commissioned at Kola MMC (MMC Norilsk Nickel affiliate) Concentrator Plant located in the city of Zapolyarny.

The new units will ensure stable operation and successful production plan performance at three Concentrator plant milling sections. The hydrocyclones with a total cost of RUB 60 million replace the worn out units.

Hydrocyclone batteries serve to sort gyrospere crusher material based on ore processing requirements in terms of size grading.

The replaced hydrocyclones became obsolete and failed to reach higher product granulometric properties as opposed to the KREBS units which can extract a higher volume of fine particles into the discharge with a net positive effect for the milling cycle and the floatation process. The specialists estimate that sorting efficiency will be boosted by 10-20 percent following tune-up and adjustment.
