OREANDA-NEWS. February 18, 2014. Russia, Romania, Italy and Ukraine maintain the leading positions on a top of Moldova’s main export partners, according to the National Statistics Bureau.

Turkey registered an impressive performance in the ranking. After the Moldovan exports to the Turkish market had increased 2.3-fold, up to 127 million dollars, Turkey went up to the fifth position in 2013 against the ninth in 2012. Following a recent meeting of the Moldovan-Turkish intergovernmental commission for economic cooperation, Economics Minister, Deputy Prime Minister Valeriu Lazar said the trade with Turkey had recorded one of the most dynamic growths. According to the economics minister, the sides set the goal to increase the trade up to one billion dollars by 2015.

Moldovan exports, that are vital to the economy, increased 15.8 per cent on the Romanian market and by 15.3 percent on the Ukrainian market in 2013 against 2012. At the same time, the exports to Russia and Italy decreased by 3.5 per cent and 9.4 per cent, respectively.

Few changes were noticed on the top of the main import partner countries. Russia, Romania, Ukraine and China kept their positions against 2012, while Turkey ceded its former fifth position to Germany, dropping to the sixth one.

The import flows increased from 2 to 16 per cent with four of Moldova’s largest import partners (Romania, Ukraine, China and Germany), and decreased by 3.5 per cent from Russia.

Moldovan exports increased by 11 per cent in 2013 against 2012, reaching 2.399 billion dollars, while imports increased by 5.4 per cent to 5.492 billion dollars.
