Viru Shopping Center Will Have EUR8 mn Makeover
OREANDA-NEWS. February 18, 2014. The Viru Shopping Center in central Tallinn will have an 8 million euro makeover that includes replacing the shops of Estonian clothing producer Baltika with foreign companies.
Member of the center’s board Ants Vasar told Delfi Arileht on Wednesday that contracts with Baltika’s brands Baltman and Monton will end this year, and the center decided to make room for "new and interesting" brands, such as Aldo and Brooks Brothers.
The newcomers will also include British brands River Island and Dune, as well as the Italian footwear company Massimo Dutti.
Baltika’s Estonian retail manager Pille Poldsam expressed regret that everything foreign is still perceived as better. She said that Baltika is the only regional fashion company with an original look that relies on extensive local experience in making quality clothes. She added that the international brands increasingly dominating Tallinn's streets owe their growth to their home markets.
The Viru Center makeover is planned to begin in March and last until September.
