OREANDA-NEWS. Foreign investment inflow in Belarus' real economy grew 4.5% on the year in January-December 2013 to U.S. USD 15 billion, the National Statistics Committee told.

Foreign direct investments account for 74% of the total value of foreign investments attracted in 2013 (72.3% in 2012), other foreign investments - 25.9% (27.6%), portfolio investments - 0.1% (no change).

Foreign direct investments grew 7% on the year in 2013 to USD 11.083 billion. Debt instruments make up for most of the direct foreign investments 80.8% (88.8% in 2012).

“Other foreign investments” amounted to USD 3.9 billion, down 1.8% on the year in 2013.

Portfolio investments in the real economy sector were at USD 12.19 million as of January 1, 2014, down 90%.

Belarus' trading companies accounted for 41.4% of overall foreign investments (47.3% in 2012), transport companies for 37.6% (36.1%), industries for 11.1% (9.9%).

Minsk accounted for 74.1% of foreign investment in January-December 2013 (73.4% in 2012), Gomel Region for 8.1% (5.5%), and Minsk Region for 6.8% (11.6%).
