Russian Helicopters Shows Ka-62 to Asia Pacific Region's Operators
OREANDA-NEWS. February 17, 2014. Russian Helicopters, a subsidiary of Oboronprom, part of State Corporation Rostec, has demonstrated the new Ka-62 multirole helicopter to commercial helicopter operators from across the Asia Pacific Region.
The event took place during the conference The Ka-62 for the Asia Pacific Region at the Singapore Airshow 2014 aerospace and defence exhibition.
“The new Ka-62 multirole helicopter is one of Russian Helicopters’ most promising new developments. It is the first Russian helicopter to be created as a result of close international cooperation, which eases the international flight safety certification process significantly,” Russian Helicopters CEO Alexander Mikheev said. “About 1,400 Russian-made helicopters are today being operated successfully across the Asia Pacific Region. I am confident that the new Ka-62, built using the latest technologies and to the highest international standards of reliability and resilience, will interest our partners and will go on to be widely used in this region.”
The Ka-62 is primarily designed for passenger transport, search and rescue operations and work on oil and gas fields. Thanks to its spacious, comfortable cabin, the helicopter is excellently suited for corporate purposes. Its high power allows it to operate at a wide range of altitudes. The Ka-62 is excellently suited to work in hot weather and over water. This makes it the ideal choice for operations across the Asia Pacific Region.
The Ka-62 is fitted with the latest Ardiden 3G engines made by France's Turbomeca, which meet the highest environmental and fuel-efficiency standards. Another French company, Zodiac Aerospace, has supplied the helicopter's fuel system, and the transmission is made by Austria’s Zoerkler. The Ka-62 is equipped with the latest avionics system including a glass cockpit developed by Russian company Transas and a navigation system that supports GPS and GLONASS. It is distinguished by its high cruising speed and low vibration.
The Ka-62 was developed at the legendary Kamov Design Bureau. Serial production will take place at the Progress Arsenyev Aviation Company (Progress AAC). Both the Kamov Design Bureau and Progress AAC are part of Russian Helicopters. The first Ka-62 prototype was unveiled at the MAKS-2013 airshow in August 2013. Brazil’s Atlas Taxi Aereo and Colombia's Vertical de Aviacion have already put in the first orders for this new helicopter.
