Vale's Company Maintains Forest Reserve in Teluk Batik, Malaysia
OREANDA-NEWS. The forest reserve maintained by our company in Teluk Batik, Malaysia, played host to Vale's scientific expedition last week, an initiative intended to promote the preservation of the local biodiversity as well as serving as the first step in the transformation of the reserve into a national park open to the public.
The event was carried out in partnership with the Malaysian Nature Society (MNS), a non-governmental organization, and brought together employees, researchers, students and local community members. Over a ten-day period, expedition participants took part in ecological treks, the identification of species found in the region and environmental education activities, such as beach clean-ups and educational games.
The closing ceremony was attended by Operations Manager for Malaysia Andre Kopperschmidt and MSN President Maketab Mohamed, as well as hundreds of the expedition's participants.
