OREANDA-NEWS. February 14, 2014. Questions of avoiding baseless growth of prices for socially important prime products and tariffs, fuel, etc. were on the agenda of regional meeting chaired by the Regional Akim Samat Yeskendirov that took place in the intercom mode.

The meeting was attended by regional Akims, their deputies, heads of district authorities, members of the staffs to restrain prices and tariffs, heads of large-scale enterprises and trade centers, exchange offices, gas stations, milling plants, agricultural producers of vegetables growing and processing.

Head of the region heard reports of individual heads of regional offices and a number of districts. According to reports, essential goods and fuel prices are steady, no agiotage is observed, exchange rate is within limits. By order of Akim of the region, swift actions are being taken in all regions - specific headquarters were established yesterday, raid and mobile teams are constantly monitoring prices for socially important food products, fuel and exchange rates to ensure the stability of the situation.

During the meeting, the Head of the region gave instructions to the Akims of districts and Petropavlovsk City to organize fixing of Akimats’ structural units on sales outlets, exchange offices and petrol stations for daily monitoring; to publish hotlines for people to address on the facts of unjustified price hikes; to ensure control over timely payment of salaries and social benefits.

Administration of Agriculture is requested to determine the need for flour mills and bakeries in grain and flour to ensure stability in prices for wheat bread made out of first grade flour.

Antimonopoly Territorial Inspection should organize explanatory work on antimonopoly law for media, to take swift actions of antimonopoly response in the case of unjustified price increases.

Head of the Region instructed the Department of the Agency for Regulation of Natural Monopolies to   monitor fuel prices daily from the angle of major distributors, and North Kazakhstan branch of the National Bank of Kazakhstan - to ensure control over the observance of second-tier banks and exchange offices deviation limits of buying and selling rates of foreign currency.

Along with this, the Office of Internal Policy together with the North-Kazakhstan branch of National Bank is mandated to conduct explanatory work for people on the current situation in the financial market and organize briefings with the media on this issue.
