OREANDA-NEWS. February 13, 2014. This is provided for by a Declaration of Intent Minister of Agriculture Vasile Bumacov and Vice-President of EIB Wilhelm Molterer signed in front of Premier Iurie Leanca and EIB President Werner Hoyer. EIB is to provide Moldova with EUR 100 million for on-lending to fruit producers on easy terms.

“Thanks to the investment, Moldovan fruit will be more competitive”, Iurie Leanca said. According to EIB President Werner Hoyer, the matter concerns an agreement of historic importance which reflects the European Investment Bank’s commitment to support agriculture sectors of the Eastern Partnership states.

Although Moldova is experiencing difficulties, it continues looking for outlets to sell its perfect wine and other products, the EIB President noted. The Plan of Action for the new initiative is to be developed in the next few months by EIB and the Agriculture Ministry of Moldova.
